Bentota River Airport

The Bentota River Airport, also known as Bentota Seaplane Base, is an airport serving Bentota in the Galle District of the Southern Province in Sri Lanka. The airport is one of the functioning waterdromes of Sri Lanka, with regular services to the capital, Colombo. The sole airline that serves the airport is SriLankan Airlines.


The airport does not have a formal terminal due to its position as a seaplane base. It only has a dock where security checks and other pre-flight preparations are done.

Driving hide 

From Bentota, head south toward B55. Turn right onto B55 and pass by Bentota Medican Centre. Turn right again onto the CGHW Highway/Colomba-Galle-Hambantota-Wellawaya Highway/Galle Road A2. Drive for another 950 metres, then turn left. After which, drive for some 350 metres then turn right to reach the Bentota River Airport. Do not be surprised to see water – the airport is considered a seaplane base.
