Bergen Airport

Bergen Airport (BGO) is the second most prominent aviation facility in Norway, with around six million passengers passing through Bergen’s terminal buildings. There have flights departing from the airfields of Bergen since the 1910s. Since that time, this hub has undergone reconstruction and updates making it a modern and convenient facility for any traveller.

Travellers can choose from over 30 direct destinations, and whilst in transit utilise the many amenities that are available. There is access to a full-service bank, an ATM, and automatic bureau de change services. Passengers will be able to connect to friends and family through the free WiFi, and if you don’t have a mobile device, there are stationary internet kiosks where you can log onto the web.

If you’re feeling hungry, there is a decent range of cafes and snack counters, as well as a few bars where you can relax with a drink pre- or post-flight. For shopping, you can pick up duty-free items, newspapers, confectionary, fashion items, travel accessories, and souvenirs. Other facilities include an information service centre, conference facilities, and a travel agency.

Flying to Bergen from Australia can be done with carriers like Qatar Airways, SAS, Emirates, Finnair, KLM, Etihad Airways, Qantas, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, British Airways, Thai Airways, Air China, Malaysia Airlines, China Southern, and Cathay Pacific.

Travel Information

·         You can traverse the 17km from the airport into Bergen central easily, as the way is very straightforward. Get on the road to Fana, and then follow the RV580 to the E39. The E39 will turn into the Fjøsangerveien, which will take you into the city. Rental cars can be organised at the airport, or online with Skyscanner's search tool.

·         Buses called the Flybussen are express services that depart every 15 minutes, and take about 25 minutes to get into the city. Expect a one-way fare to come to about 115NOK ($18). There are also high-speed ferries that leave from the airport, and can take you to the city, or other coastal cities. Other options via road include airport transfers that you can book online, and choose from a selection of different companies to secure the cheapest price.

·         Taxis take around 25 minutes, depending on traffic, and will cost you roughly 420NOK ($65) altogether. This is the most expensive way to travel, but if you are in a group, it can still be fairly economical.
