Avalon Airport is situated south-west of Victoria’s state capital, Melbourne, in Australia. With a single runway on its premises, the airport serves Jetstar Airways and handles domestic flights to Sydney.
Parents travelling with children may visit Avalon's Kid Zone, where there are games and toys available to entertain children, as families wait for flights. It is catered for children ages 0-10, and also consists of seating areas for feeding. Parents may use the baby change rooms, with facilities such as baby changing tables and nappy bins. Restaurants in the airport also provide kids' menus. Additionally, parents may make use of the strollers provided for rental by Jetstar, for use within the airport.
Travellers with time to kill at the airport may do some shopping at the gift shop. There are newspapers, magazines and books for travellers' reading pleasure, on top of souvenirs that they may buy as presents for friends and family back home, travel essentials, snacks and drinks.
There are game machines to keep travellers of all ages entertained at the departure terminal, as well as televisions screening entertainment and news channels. Passengers may also relax in one of the massage chairs to soothe their aches caused by flying.
Connect to the internet and check emails, surf the net or chat online with friends and family via the Wi-Fi service available at the departure terminal. There are computers with internet access for travellers without Wi-Fi-enabled electronic devices, and printing services are also available.
Smoking is strictly prohibited within the airport. Smokers are advised to use the designated smoking areas outside the terminal building or risk getting fined.
