Akhiok Airport

The Akhiok Airport is a state-owned, public-use airport operated by the State of Alaska DOT&PF – Central Region chapter. It is located 2 kilometres south-west of the central business district of Akhiok, a city in the Kodiak Island Borough of the US State of Alaska. As per Federal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 1,220 passenger boardings in 2008, 1,356 in 2009, and 1,209 in 2010, making it a general aviation facility based on the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011-2015. All available and scheduled passenger service from the airport are subsidized by the U.S. Department of Transportation via the Essential Air Service program until 2010, after which, Servant Air began providing subsidy-free, commercial service. Top destinations from the airport include Kodiak and Old Harbour. Previously, services to Larsen Bay are also available.


The airport has a single functioning terminal capable of handling all scheduled flight services and general aviation services.

Akhiok Airport is set at an elevation of 44 feet above mean sea level, with one gravel runway measuring 3,129 feet. Airport communications are provided by the Anchorage ARTCC. Other services, including airframe, powerplant, bottled oxygen, and bulk oxygen are not available as of the moment.

Driving hide 

From the Akhiok city centre, head west on 3rd Avenue toward C Street. Continue on to C Street then turn left onto 4th avenue. From 4th Avenue, approach and turn left onto Airport Way, then follow the directions to the Akhiok Airport. The journey should only take 10 minutes.
