Albury Airport

Albury Airport is one of the busiest regional aviation hubs in New South Wales, servicing both Albury and its neighbouring city of Wodonga. Albury and Wodonga lie on either side of the Murray River, with the former being in New South Wales and the latter being in Victoria. The Albury Airport sees a quarter of a million people fly through its hub, and operates 150 flights a week. The main terminal building has been upgraded, but it is due to double in size when the airport’s expansion project starts construction in late 2017. Future passengers will be able to look forward to an outdoor courtyard, a larger departure lounge, dual baggage carousels, and a revamped café and bar.

There aren’t a lot of facilities currently at the Albury Airport currently, though passengers flying to Albury-Wodonga can head to the Uiver café and bar, which serves coffee, as well as locally sourced food and drinks. You can also relax with a glass of regional wine while you are waiting to board. The Uiver Café and Bar also sells various reading materials if you would like something to keep you amused in transit. The café has opening hours from 5:30am to 6:30pm Monday-Friday, 5:30am-4:30pm on Saturday, and 7:45am-6:30pm on Sunday.

Airlines that fly to and from Albury Airport (ABX) are Regional Express (REX0, Virgin Australia, Qantas and JETGO. Operating routes from Albury Airport go to Sydney (SYD), Brisbane (BNE) and Melbourne (MEL).

Travel Information

· The airport is located 5km from Albury’s CBD, and almost 11km to Wondonga’s. To Albury, head southwest on the Riverina Highway (B58) towards Lockheed Drive. Continue straight onto Guinea Street and then turn left onto Kiewa. At the roundabout, take the second exit to join Wyse Street, and then turn right onto Jones. To Wodonga, take the same Riverina Highway (B58), then merge onto the Hume Highway (M31) towards Melbourne. Take the Wodonga exit (C315) to the city centre, and then follow the signs for Wodonga. There are four car hire companies in the airport, Thrifty, Hertz, Avis and Budget, or you can rent a car using the Skyscanner car hire tool.

· There is no public transport running between the airport and the main part of town, but there is a shuttle bus services run by Border Shuttle Bus. This isn’t a free service, but they do operate around the clock, and they will take you door-to-door. You must book this service in advance, or you can arrange an airport transfer online.

· You will find taxis just outside the airport at the taxi rank. However, if there are no taxis available when you exit the terminal, you can ask a member of the airport staff to call one for you. To Albury’s downtown area the fare should be about $18-25, for Wodonga’s CBD, expect to pay around $35-42.
