Ways To Check-In

You can check in at the airport in person, with the self-service kiosk or online up to 48 hours before the flight departs. Please note that if you are under 17 years of age, you are not allowed to check in online, and must do so at the airport. Please leave around 2-3 hours to check in if you haven’t already done so online.

Baggage Allowances

For most destinations, Economy passengers are given a baggage allowance of up to 30kg, with Business and First class ticket holders able to bring 40kg and 50kg respectively. Generally your linear dimensions for your luggage should come to 152cm cumulatively. Luggage that surpasses the weight or agreed dimensions will be subject to excess charges.

Cabin bags are limited to a weight of 7kg, and all passengers can bring at least one carry-on bag, with higher cabin classes able to bring two bags. All customers are able to bring an additional personal item aboard, such as a coat, purse or a laptop.


When you check in online you can choose or change your seat free of charge, unless you choose to upgrade from an Economy seat to a Preferred Seat, in which case you will be charged a small fee.

In-Flight Service

On board, and up in the air you will have access to the SilkAir entertainment system where you can watch both international and Hollywood productions, as well as over 40 television shows and music which will all stream to your wireless mobile device. Just don’t forget to bring yours!

The dining service is complimentary, and you can expect meals or snacks depending on the duration of your journey with SilkAir. For any special meal requests, SilkAir can accommodate your needs as long as you let them know of your requirements up to 24 hours in advance of your travel.

If you have a child travelling with SilkAir between the ages of 5 and 18, they may use the Unaccompanied Minor Service, which ensures that your child is monitored throughout their journey. Please note, the UM service is mandatory for anyone between the ages of 5-12, and must be booked ahead of travel. Be aware that children under 5 must be accompanied by an adult to travel with SilkAir.

Booking Fees/Payment Methods

SilkAir accepts payment only by credit/debit cards. Cards presently accepted are Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Diners Club. If you are making your ticket reservations online, you will be presented with the applicable cards for selection when prompted for payment. For tickets purchased out of China, you may use Alipay as an alternate payment mode. Ticket prices reflected at your point of purchase are inclusive of booking fees. SilkAir may impose additional fees for amendments made to your flight itinerary, especially for changes may close to departure time. Do take notice that a “No-show” fee may also be imposed if you do not turn up for a flight.
