Based in Sao Paolo, TAM Airlines operates both domestic and international flights via a fleet of more than a hundred aircrafts, connecting passengers to 61 destinations over 16 countries in Latin America, USA and Europe.

In 2014, TAM Airlines also joined the Oneworld alliance. With its codeshare partners, TAM Airlines has now begun serving destinations such as Frankfurt, Tokyo, Beijing and Canada.

Why fly with TAM Airlines


TAM Airlines offers web check-in service for all of its domestic flights as well as a few select international destinations such as Venezuela; Santiago, Chile and Argentina. All you need to do is key in your departure date and reservation code or e-ticket number to be issued your electronic boarding pass, which can be printed from home. Web check-in is available 24 hours before departure and up to 1 hour prior to take-off. If you prefer to check-in at the airport, you can avoid the hassle of queuing by using TAM's Easy Check-In Kiosks, which works the same way as web check-in. Boarding passes can also be printed at the kiosks for those who have checked in online but not printed their passes. Passengers travelling with infants or require special assistance have to check-in at the airport counters. TAM recommends all passengers check-in at least an hour before flight departure time. If flying to or from Manaus, arrive 2 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Passengers traveling within Brazil are allowed up to 23 kg of check-in baggage, in addition to one piece of hand-carry luggage and one personal item. An excess baggage fee will be levied whenever the baggage allowance is exceeded. You will be charged a minimal percentage of your original flight fare for each kilogram of excess baggage. For international flights that are bound for destinations in Europe, North America, South Africa and Asia from Brazil, all passengers are entitled to two pieces of check-in luggage weighing 32 kg each. This applies to all classes of service. On board flights that are departing from the Middle East or North Africa, or heading towards Latin America, first class passengers are entitled 43 kg of check-in baggage, business class passengers are permitted 33 kg and economy class passengers allowed 23 kg. Feel free to check with TAM on the exact baggage allowance for your travel route. Excess baggage for international travel routes can either be charged on weight or on a per piece basis. You may purchase excess baggage when booking your ticket or any time before your scheduled departure via the sales centre hotline. On all international routes, economy class passengers are allowed one piece of hand-carry and one personal item. Business class and first class passengers are entitled to two hand-carry bags and one personal item. All hand-carry baggage must be within the dimensions of 115 cm (height+length+width) and can be stowed under seat or in overhead compartments.


TAM offers first, business and economy class travel on its international long-haul flights. On flights within South America, business and economy Class are offered. With TAM, all economy class seats are arranged 81.2 cm apart, with a width of 41 cm and can recline up to 115-degrees. Each seat comes equipped with a bi-fold tray table, personal TV, USB outlets and power sockets. For more legroom, you can request for seats in the front row or near the emergency exits when checking in over the counters or online. Seat selection is are subject to a fee. For first class and business class cabins, every seat can be reclined into a bed that comes with adjustment switches, which expand the width and length of the seat. First Class seats come with additional duvets, pillows and blankets. Each seat is mounted with a personal reading light, bi-fold table and multi-sockets. You will also be assigned your own entertainment screen.

TAM currently accepts cash and credit cards for booking payments. The applicable credit cards are American Express, MasterCard and Visa. If you hold a checking account at Unibanco, Bradesco, Itau, Real or Banco do Brasil, you can make payment via automatic debiting or direct consumer credit.

Meals, Snacks and Beverages

TAM serves complimentary inflight meals for its long haul destinations and refreshments for shorter flight routes. Amenity kits complete with blankets and pillows are also provided for long haul flights.
